Don't miss the first West Coast NOLOSE Conference: fat activism, workshops, soul-quaking/ass-shaking performance, dancing, swimming, body worship, creative zeal ...and real community! This year, we also have a limited number of 1-day passes for those who can't make the whole thing.

The flabulousness continues on past the end of NOLOSE into Sunday night, because you will not want to miss Flabulous 2: Fatter than Ever! at the National Queer Arts Festival in San Francisco Sunday, June 6 at 7pm!

About the venue: The 2010 conference will take place June 4-6 at the Oakland Econo Lodge Inn and Suites. It’s small enough that we will have the whole hotel and pool to ourselves to revel in fat queerness! This year we’ll have three full days of workshops, expanded arts and entertainment, BIGGER art on display, mingling, eating, swimming, dancing and general frivolity. Does it get any better than that?

About our conference theme:
How do we strategically counter the hype that is FAT PANIC!? Most of us have noted the severe escalation of anti-fat villainizing and fear-mongering not just from the media, the medical field and academia - but in our personal lives and even from progressive areas of social change, such as environmentalism, slow food and food justice movements, as well as other areas of social justice organizing. How do we deal with fat hatred overload and misinformation? Bring your experience to the table!

Keynote Speakers

Keynote Panel: Fat activists from different regions and areas of expertise will come together to address this on a panel discussion covering approaches from Health At Every Size (HAES), food justice, fat studies, media activism, and arts activism. Keynote speakers and discussants include Deb Burgard, Charlotte Cooper, Nomy Lamm, Naima Lowe, Galadriel Mozee, and Bianca Wilson.

Click to subscribe to our monthly e-mail announcements or view our conference Facebook page or LiveJournal blog for updates as they come in.
