New Providence Women's Shelter Needs Your Clothes!
New Providence Women's Shelter is desperately in need of large size women's clothing. The shelter, located at 225 East 45th Street in Manhattan, serves homeless single women from the New York City area. As it is one of few NYC shelters for single women and it has a reputation for being more-accepting-than-your-average-shelter, many lesbians end up there.
If you have clothes you are ready to part with, please pass them along to women who will really appreciate them. Many of the shelter residents are recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, mental illness, domestic violence and deep economic hardship. They have enough to deal with without struggling to find clothes that fit!
Someone will be available to accept donations at the shelter at any hour, just let them know it is a clothing donation and should go to Sam Govorcin. Donations may also be mailed to the shelter (mark "clothing donations" on the outside of the package and mail to 225 East 45th Street, New York, NY 10017). For more information, contact Marty Downs or Jay Toole at the LGBT Community Center (212-620-7310).
