i have never made a pie in my whole life, but i pretty much adore pie. i'd even go so far as to say i'd generally prefer a good fruit pie to a cupcake. the other day i had apple cranberry fruit crisp. it's almost like pie, right? what are your opinions on crisps? 1/23/08 was international pie day. did you know? ericaceous and i enjoyed some pie in a diner in south philly. here is the photo evidence. mm. pie love. oh man!
i didn't know there was an official pie holiday!
mebbe we can make it a potluck fundrasier? like, everyone who wants to can bake a pie and then everyone else can eat pie and it'll be like 5 - 10 bucks for all the pie you can want (with plenty of take home containers)

We had a pie party once. Price of admission was one homemade pie. Wow, it was amazing.
Kim made key lime pie to die for.
Other pies represented:
apple chocolate cream pie (pudding-ish) chocolate orange w/ graham cracker crust (baked filling) shepherd's pie maple sugar pie berry pie turkey and stuffing pie PIEnapple upside down cake heaven and earth pie (apples/potatoes/onions/cheddar) pecan pie
hell, i'm forgetting so many. there were like 30.

oh!
thanks for pointing out the not all pie's are sweet
coz, there could totally be quiche (which i think is just french for egg pie with last night's left over veg)
and, in that way, the hypotethical fundraising pie day celebration could actually be a full meal ~bounce~

PIEnapple upside down cake isn't pie. True.
But I gotta say, the person who brought it makes a fucking killer Pineapple Upside Down cake. So there was no way in hell I was gonna turn her away at the door for her creative re-interpretation of the rules.

I thought that international pie day was you know, associated with Pi...
My mom works at a middle school, and 3/14 was the day they celebrated international pie day.
Also, Max, that heaven and earth pie sounds like heaven ON earth. I want the recipe!
